Pre-Em Stain Removal

Post by 73Chall » September 16th, 2017, 2:56 pm

My post fer the good of domestic tranquility all over:

I don't suppose I am the very first to experience the staining power of this stuff (and I am certain I will not be the last!) but,

last evening I made one of my Fall split applications with Lesco Pre-M 0-0-7 (I find that the the 19-0-7 Dimension is simply too "hot") and set the irrigation system to run deep this morning.

All was well . . .

Then, this afternoon, I was on my way home from shooting a couple rounds of sporting clays when I got the text from my spouse:

"WHAT IS THE YELLOW STUFF THAT WAS AROUND THE ANKLES OF YOUR COVERALLS? -- WHERE THEY WERE TOUCHING THE WASHING MACHINE IS NOW STAINED PERMANENTLY YELLOW AND N-O-T-H-I-N-G IS EVEN PUTTING A DENT IN REMOVING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because a member of our family is a geriatric 4-1/2 lb Chihuahua (who lives on an entirely different level of our home), I immediately came clean: "It is the colorant in a herbicide I applied last night ... I am on the way home, now!"
:club:

Well, holy s _ _ t, she was not kidding -- I knew the actual granules of that stuff have to be removed (blown or swept) from any surfaces other than the lawn asap after it is spread on turf but, I had NO IDEA residue remains so evil!

I am pretty confident that if I actually posted a list of the stuff I tried to get the yellow stains out of the white enamel finish on the expensive washer would initiate a flame war here so, WHAT FINALLY WORKED WAS Turtle Wax CHROME POLISH :yahoo:
( after success with that I also found carnauba wax put at least a tiny tiny dent in the yellow stuff)

Anyway, this is a pretty anti-climatic post after someone else has posted their 25,000th post :good: but, I hope the answer / solution saves someone else a lot of grief!

And now, we take you back to your regularly scheduled viewing . . .

Pendimethalin, I presume. Now you know (one reason) why most of us stick to Dithiopyr and Prodiamine.

That's what the yellow rubber boots are for.
