So Who Got What?
I had no lawn score this year, it was a very "nobody needs anything" year for us. My big score was 54 canvases that were on sale--premium quality, but overstock so they cost nothing.
I did get myself a few things since nobody can buy it for me. I went from 9 tones of yellow nobody can tell the difference between to 12 (mostly filling in the boundaries nearest white and orange). Two new reds. Two new blues. And I replaced the detail brushes I destroyed with a formal set that's much higher durability and quality (and made of golden Taklon instead of whatever that was).

I did ok... Dewalt table saw and matching sliding compound miter saw. Already used them to convert a kitchen closet into a pantry. Also, got a new pair of Birkenstocks for my old flat feet

As far as yard stuff goes, I got an Ego blower (I have the 21" mower.) Leaves on my red oaks usually drop in early Jan. so this is right on time.

Re: So Who Got What?
I admit to post-buying some stuff, too. Nobody buys me art supplies, books, or yard items any longer unless I pre-choose them.
Cobalt blue, Pyrrole red, a few other colors. I spent so much they sent me a free gift card.
I'm now learning watercolors (I've spent ages just doing acrylics) so I also got a decent set of those from Grumbacher. I'd post my first efforts, but yuck.
I know I'm going to get sucked into doing Sumi-e sooner rather than later, so I have the brush sets. For now, I can use black watercolor and watercolor paper to learn that instead of rice paper and inkstone.

Re: So Who Got What?
The house we moved into last summer has an attached garage. I never had one before. To go along with that my wife bought me a multi drawer tool chest on wheels. Also gift cards to a garden center that carries lots of various chemical supplies.

My daughter has inherited my procrastination, but I'm told to expect a Joule sous vide machine any day now.

Nice! I've been looking at sous vide lately but have never done it. Looks like some amazing cooking results.Dchall_San_Antonio wrote: ↑January 8th, 2021, 1:40 pmMy daughter has inherited my procrastination, but I'm told to expect a Joule sous vide machine any day now.

The sous vide is a game changer. We got one a few years back for Christmas and it makes the juiciest steak ever (assuming it's quality and you season it well, of course!)Dchall_San_Antonio wrote: ↑January 8th, 2021, 1:40 pmMy daughter has inherited my procrastination, but I'm told to expect a Joule sous vide machine any day now.
Combine that with this baked potato recipe and you've got a real nice evening.

Re: So Who Got What?
I just had my birthday and Arteza sent me a birthday offer for 2 watercolor journals for the price of 1 (really good quality, too). Plus fifteen more percent off, and free shipping.
Well, I was pretty much out of my old journal, and although I'm not great at watercoloring, I do enjoy it. So...
And my electric razor died. That's the last Phillips I buy, it went less than two years used as a secondary shaver (I shave blade first, electric second; I have a thick bear beard and have to sharpen the blade daily). I'm trying a Max-T.

Thanks! I don't really celebrate them all that much. "Hi, you're one year closer to death!"

Re: So Who Got What?
I did get the sous vide machine. It turned out to be an Anova Nano. It's fun as hell. I am now the meat cooker in the house, especially since I'm retired and my wife is still working. I also got a weed torch at Harbor Freight for searing the meat. That is also fun. If you are still searing in a pan, spend the $30 for the torch and a 20 pound tank of propane. Searing under a 2,000 degree flame takes 10 seconds per side.

Re: So Who Got What?
wow...very cool! I just got my wife a vacuum sealer and it mentions using for sous vide in the instructions. I'm going to have to give this a try. Thanks for the update!Dchall_San_Antonio wrote: ↑March 8th, 2021, 12:35 amI did get the sous vide machine. It turned out to be an Anova Nano. It's fun as hell. Re: So Who Got What?
Speaking of sous vide.. I've become infatuated with sousvideque... Sous vide, then chill, then smoke... Just did a beef rump roast yesterday. This cut of meat has given me fits over the years (always included with the cows we get) and haven't found a way to make it not a brick of meat. Well 16 hours in the sous vide at 131, chilled, then brought to 125 on the smoker with hickory... oh baby. Dang, my mouth is watering again just thinking of it!

Get it right, Morph. It's since 2009, not 2012.
