Man, it does look nice doesn't it? Are you on "cruise control" now for the rest of the season?

Re: Paspalum
SG, does your Jake have a fixed head or floating? My motor mounting is adjustable and I moved it far forward over the weekend (putting more weight on the front roller). I really like how it mowed yesterday.

Re: Paspalum
Fixed, yours is much newer than mine.
I wish I had some of the options you have with cut frequency, balancing, etc

Re: Paspalum
I am really curious on how well your Paspalum will survive the Winter and what it looks like dormant. Do you plan on scalping it in the Spring like we do with Bermuda?

Re: Paspalum
Scalping Paspalum does not have the same effect as Bermuda so I don't plan on doing that coming out of dormancy. Spraying ProD in late September and going to see how things go.Mightyquinn wrote:I am really curious on how well your Paspalum will survive the Winter and what it looks like dormant. Although every source I've seen says Pasp handles the transition out of overseeding very well, I don't plan on doing that this winter. Possibly next year
Really happy with where the turf is right now. I'm cutting .8 and the turf is very thick and lush. As you may have seen in the lawn pics thread, yesterday was my first cut in two weeks.
I may have actually been cutting too often before my bed knife block cracked. Going to try and cut a max of 2x/week for the next month and see how the turf responds.

Re: Paspalum
Important note for anyone considering this turf.
Paspalum is gorgeous, it is lush, it is thick, and if you plan on keeping it elite, I would highly recommend having access to a verticutters/slicer. Much like Bermuda/Zoysia this turf will get puffy, canopy may lay over, or may tangle up in and below the canopy. A light verticutting periodically guides the turf back to vertical growth. I personally have not encountered any thatch issues with this being my first season with it, but I have carefully managed my Nitrogen.
Yes, I do love the turf and given the choice again I would pick Platinum over and over. Great choice for the lower Southeast. Yet to be seen if North Carolina/TN would work or not. Hoping maybe someone can share next season.

Man, I hope this stuff catches on more. I would love a paspalum lawn, but I am worried how seeding with seaspray would turn out. Of course, I can't find any sod near me.

Re: Paspalum
When I looked earlier this year there were 2 sod farms in the continental U.S. I believe, maybe 3. So if you aren't close it might be a problem.

Hey, I have my lawn on there!! I think it's the only Warm Season lawn on there right now. If you would like your lawn on there just shoot Turf Toes a quick PM and he will let you know what to do.Jayhawkmba wrote:belongs on the home page of rotating (cool season) images

Re: Paspalum
Thanks man but hardly show quality this day. Dye marks on the concrete from spraying this morning. Still recovering a bit from using the manual dethatching rake last week. See all the grass on the driveway? I've tried blowing it off a few times but it's intent on staying. I'm waiting for a big rain to wash it away, but I will probably end up having to hand broom it away. I'll take some close ups towards the end of next week.Jayhawkmba wrote:belongs on the home page of rotating (cool season) images

Re: Paspalum (Seashore)(Paspalum Vaginatum)
Headed back towards green
I anticipate being full green by at least April 15.
Have not dropped any N yet and not trying to push top growth at all. Letting the rhizomes do their thing and the rest will take care of itself.
Going to ugly it up straight away when it gets green. Will be aerating, light verticutting, and then topdressing. Should look super sweet by the one year anniversary.
