I watched it rain all morning. Which is good since we finished 2016 12" below normal for rainfall. As soon as it stops I'll be putting away the lawn Christmas decorations.

Picked up some sticks when I was finished taking down my Christmas lights. Still green!

I watched rabbits, squirrels, and birds frolic in fifty degree weather across the still-green lawn. We're projected for snow, sleet, and freezing rain tomorrow.
Happy New Year!

Blew out the gutters today and wish I would have got out earlier as it was nice enough out for a cleanup mow which I really need as I have some leaves that most likely came from neighbors lawn.
Moved the usual stuff to the shed for the winter which is a crazy thing to say on Jan 1st.

Not really the lawn, but took the snow blower to my driveway and the sidewalks of several neighbors.

I'm organizing the garage, therefore I had to move the bags of Milo. I've missed the smell of Milo.

Last Sunday, actually, but I took advantage of the warm weather by cleaning up the lawn. 4 bags of leaves from the neighbor's trees, assorted Christmas wrapping and Amazon boxes from last week's windy recycling day, and scooped up the last Doggie-Organite our Cocker Spaniel will ever contribute. He went to Dog Heaven the week before Christmas.

I just did the same thing. Lost 2 dogs in 3 months - the last one the week before Christmas.
Poop was all that was left of the poor fella. I used to always say I couldn't wait for the day these dogs no longer messed up the lawn, but I surprised myself by getting a lump in my throat.

My condolences for losing your little buddy.oze wrote:Last Sunday, actually, but I took advantage of the warm weather by cleaning up the lawn. 4 bags of leaves from the neighbor's trees, assorted Christmas wrapping and Amazon boxes from last week's windy recycling day, and scooped up the last Doggie-Organite our Cocker Spaniel will ever contribute. My son brought home his 6 week old golden retriever this Christmas break and all of a sudden doggie-organite does not bother me at all.

Measured soil temp of front. It was around 35F. The back is definitely colder. There's still a handful of green lawns or parts of lawns around here, and mine isn't one of them. I have green and straw mixed. Strange that one of the neighbors who doesn't do that great a job is still green.

^^^^^^ I just modified my Ariens. Installed mud flaps on the impeller. Works great......throws slush too. Increases the throwing distance also!!
It's very easy to do.....

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
There are many videos on utube that walk you through it. The impellers have a small gap between the impellers and the chute ( just before the chute actually). When the gap is closed ( I used a mud flap) with a flat piece of rubber ( needs to be flexible) it won't / should not clog.
Which in turn moves more snow and slush. The slush usually clogs up.
Cut the rubber to size, and I through bolted the impellers with ss hardware.
Remember to pull the spark plug before you get your hands in there.
