Re: Milorganite sale
My buddy was telling me how nuts one of his neighbors was because he was putting fertilizer on his yard made from sewage. I just smiled and shook my head. If only he looked in my shed.

Re: Milorganite sale
Complete stupidity. I just read that despite high demand, NYC actually stopped shipping it out in 2012 and now half goes into landfills around the state. So it ends up in the ground anyway and we use poop from Milwaukee instead of NY, thus doubling the amount of poop ending up in the ground in NY somewhere.andy10917 wrote: ↑April 4th, 2017, 7:58 pmActually, LIGrass, the opposite is true. Somewhere here in the forums I documented a paraphrasing of a conversation I had maybe 5 years ago where I discussed your very question with somebody at the NY DEC. He told me the extreme fringe yells that it is the same as the sewage that can be applied to farms in some places. No legislator has the backbone to call them out on that nonsense, so we NY'ers pay to ship it out of state to other places.
PS: if anyone finds that thread, please link it

Re: Milorganite sale
Yeah it's crazy! Boston used to pay a landfill for all their poop. Then they were paying for a contract in case bay state fertilizer had a failure. Now they don't pay for anything because the facility is performing so well. So instead of paying to throw it out they are now getting money from us to put it down on our lawns! The turf farms call it Boston Beans hehe

Want to get your neighbor's attention? Blend Milo with Serenade and lots of water in a blender then spray on your lawn, this will get your neighbor's neighbor's neighbor's attention as well.

Back on sale for $6.99 at Farm and Fleet, Menards, in my area. I'll pick up the last 4 bags I need to get me through the year.

Home Depot price matches plus 10%. If the product is in stock.

Re: Milorganite sale
This worked last year but no match this year from Home Depot, "they are not a direct competitor of ours." At HD, it has a lot to do with who you're asking and what type of day they're having.
Also, True Value will price match...if you ask nicely. YMMV. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Re: Milorganite sale
I'm jealous. I have been checking weekly the local Walmart, HD, and the menards by work for the last month and no luck on a milo sale. maybe May will the month.

Currently $5.99 at Menards in Minneapolis.
Went to Home Depot at lunch and they price-matched plus gave me 10% off with their "Meet and Beat" deal. $5.39/bag! Only got enough for 1 application as I don't have anywhere to store anymore. I need a storage shed!

Re: Milorganite sale
If you live in an area with a Meijer store I was surprised to find a couple pallets of Milo in their garden center. The HD by my house has been out for weeks. I never would have thought to check Meijer but there it was. It wasn't on sale the day I was there but it was the same reg. price as all the hardware stores so they're competitive at least. I'll be keeping an eye on the hardware stores and Meijer now for sales.

$7.99 at Menards in Lansing, MI. I plan on taking advantage of the Home Depot "meet and beat" deal as well.

Re: Milorganite sale
Did the vegan craze hit Milwaukee? Why the shortage of poop? Either that or the demand is high enough that they don't need to do these sales anymore. When are other states (ahem, NEW YORK) going to wake up and smell the milo?

Re: Milorganite sale
Maybe a cheese shortage?
Yeah, no joy on LI for organic bargain hunters. And I bet the nonorganics are going to get scarce as well. With all that they are finding in the ground water, laws are evolving. Not that it's a bad thing, but it's coming.
As far as the Milo, I may have to go to NJ for Oceangro. I'm pretty sure that sale is over though. I was holding out for May Milo sale. DOH!
