Lots of long, light rains, cooler temps - tossed out more seed and top dressed with peat moss in bare spots. Light fertilization earlier this week, finished up my new rose bed (for now!).

Saw the first spring sighting of what I believe is quackgrass resprouting. Can't be weedy grass growing from seed as I put down heavy dose of dimension already. Heart sank a little. Painted as much as I could with roundup gel and pulled some others. Upside is if quack is growing thank hopefully lawn should start thickening up as well. Also changed the oil, spark plug, -!; air filter on my Honda mower.

Debating if I want to do a clean up mow tomorrow or just the lawn grow it out for another week. Some areas could definitely need the mow. I am leaving on vacation tomorrow night.

I too changed the oil and blades on my Honda mower. Now it's time to watch the Masters. :)

1.7 inches of rain according to the rain gauge, and a full cup in the container. At one point, we had subtropical grade pouring rain with the huge droplets today, like what you typically get in South Florida. Not exactly common in early April here. Didn't see any actual hail, but I'm sure it was close to that. Of course, now it's in the low 40s and will hit the upper 30s tonight, and I can smell people burning wood in their fireplace.

Edit: 4/7/17: Total is 1.75 inches.

My yard is BOOMING but still wet to mow. Some areas well over 4+ inches after mowing at 3" last weekend. Going to give it a few more days to dry out.

Got a lot of rain recently so took the opportunity with the soil nice and moist to pull up a whole bunch of onion in the backyard with a bulb planter.

Wasn't able to mow for a while so the quackgrass in the front was nice and tall. Painted it and star of bethlem with glyphosate. I'm going to hit it again next week.

Now to mow! Interested in seeing how the new timemaster engine will do with the grass a little taller this time.

Spot sprayed Poa Annua with Tenacity again. Noticed a bunch popped up in the backyard the last week with all the rain.

I'm having second thoughts about how well Tenacity works as a fall preM while overseeding. I expected a whole lot less Poa this spring.

Did you use sod-quality seed, and what are you figuring is a better treatment than Tenacity for the situation?

Spot sprayed some Bayer Advanced + CG on some broadleafs and clover. Identified a quackgrass plantation in the back, so it looks like I have some glyphosate painting in my future. :(

Edit: Upon further review, by not willing to accept my fate, it appears to be annual ryegrass and not quackgrass. Some of the plants had purple stems, which I don't believe quackgrass has.

Sprinkler system ran this morning. Oops. Forgot to disable. It created a frost on the grass with the 34 degree temperature.

Put some nozzles on some sprinkler heads. Mowed last night then applied pgr and fas.

I did use sod-quality seed from SuperSeed Store. I also did two 4oz treatments of Tenacity before using Dimension in mid-October.

I know there is no other better treatment than Tenacity while overseeding as a preM. Perhaps this year I will be more aggressive with treatments.

I sprayed some foliar chelated iron. My soil is low in iron and what's there is likely bound up. Spray was just for some green around Easter.

I laid seed, applied 3lbs of epsom salt per k over 30k sqft and sprayed that 30k with tenacity. What a workout with a 4g backpack. Tomorrow its cleanup, irrigation opening and some baystate fertilizer.

Put prodiamine down at split rate app. The chapin 20v is a breeze to use.

Hit the Annua with round 2 today using my Chapin 20v sprayer

Im not completely surprised by the amount of Annua considering the mild winter we had but starting to think I should change my my lawn type to say I have an Annua /Bewitched mix...or I guess I should say blend
