Yesterday: Sprayed some more PGR on triangular overseed area behind deck.

Today: On middle section of side, mowed as low as possible several times without scalping (1.75 in) and bagged clippings. Raked. Put down seed. About 1 lb of KBG blend (Bewitched, America, Rugby II). Put down a very light Fiesta 4 TTPR seed dusting in the areas with the least plant matter to help stabilize soil.

Mowed upper back and bagged it also, due to Rust. This was actually the first time I've ever used the bag on this mower, which was purchased in April or May of 2014! Hosed down mower afterward due to the Rust.

Still hand-watering in front.

Put down my first N app of the fall regimen. Slight rain tonight and I have the sprinklers coming on at 2am to finish the job

Harvey stopped by and dropped about 2" so far. Thoughts and prayers for the folks down in TX and LA.

Put down 5-4-0 Milorganite on rust-invaded upper back at 0.25 lb/K of N rate, and watered with catch can audit for total of 1 hr. Still need to rework the nozzles and arcs in that area.

Early AM, watered zones 1 and 2 (main front and side) for total of 1 hour each (half inch or so).

Dug up hen of the woods mushroom clumps on main front again (this is getting old) and left gouges in the soil again.

Mowed main front and part of side front, starting to take the height on only on the areas that are to be overseeded with TTTF.

Continued hand-watering and watered the KBG overseed area on the side with Rainbird Impact sprinkler.
Sprayed PGR at 3/4 strength rate on the stubble in the area.

Sprayed Tenacity on the lower section of that area, which will be the next area overseeded. 3-4 oz rate with surfactant to get any weeds. Spot sprayed some areas on low-input area, too.

Seeds must be anxious, day 5, and that's including the 5.3" rain on Tuesday. I only noticed a couple so far, this is in the front yard that receives most of the sun.

Mowed rest of side front and upper part of side.

Put down peat moss on side overseed area 1, triangular hellstrip, and fixed areas on side front/hell strips.

Looks good.

I though numerous times before/during/after seeding (8/13) that I'm too old

Full overseed on 7k sqft of neglected area. Cut low, thatched like crazy, soil moist, seed down, heavy baystate, peat moss cover (wish this was cheaper!) and black kow spread to boost the herd. Watered in. Hope it works

Technically yesterday: Watered seed, including side front watering for total of 20 min in the AM. That's 2/3-inch on the hell-strips plus two more light hand-waterings later in the day. I really need to recalibrate that zone.

Tomorrow I want to do more mowing, Milorganite, seed tray planting, spray prosedge, and maybe paint RU on a couple of things. And pick up more peat moss as well visit HD. Still trying to figure out the watering/rain situation...I haven't been following the normal watering rules lately as I've been trying to test zones and recalibrate them, so watering tends to be lighter than it should.

Well, I've done a lot the last few days as I have a few days off work over a long weekend.

Regular mowing - I'm down to 2.5" now. I spot sprayed with 24D / Bayer Advanced, pulled some crabgrass on the border, ordered some Hunter sprinkler heads, applied milo and potash, treated grubs in a few areas. I really need to blanket spray for clover - it's bad in a few areas. AND, there are a few patches of grubs killing the turf.

Got the last 2 bags of Scotts mulch at HD, and picked up 2 more 3.8 cubic ft. bales of peat moss at the hardware store. Btw, didn't see any real sales on fertilizer at HD, beyond 10% off a few types. People had mentioned sales, but nothing big around here.

Worked on side front sprinkler zone. Watered for about an hour and did catch can audit. Swapped out 5 nozzles. Will have to retest next week. Also replaced the rubber cover on one head, which had been broken. Watered side overseed area 1 using impact sprinkler. Still no germination in sod tray.

Mowed lower back (probably the last time at 3.75 in height) and put down 5 lbs of Milorganite 5-4-0 (0.25 lb/K N) only on that area.

Mowed and bagged parts of main front that will be overseeded, at 3.25 in. Mowed and bagged part of side front to be overseeded, at 2.75 in. Will mow these parts of the front again at 2.75 in, in a few days.

Day 5 seedlings appeared in compost amended area, and now day 8 they are appearing in non-compost areas. I hand watered the first two days after seed down. Since then, we've had rain almost every other day: 5.3", 1.9", .11" with more forecasted mid-week. Hurricane Irma next weekend?

This is in the non-compost area

Got 0.6 in of rain.

Bought fertilizer at Walmart.

Hand trimmed around hell-strips. (Still haven't mowed in a while due to PGR.)

Did a couple of nozzle swaps on upper back zone, and ended up running sprinklers for around 20 min. Will have to see if the coverage is better or worse now.

Hand spread grass seed in thin germinating areas.

Here's the customary night picture. :good: Seedlings growing in the compost area.
