All snow melted. I cut the lawn today mulching leaves and checking for growth. No growth, so I put down 2lbs/k of 48-0-0 urea and watered it in.

Helped spread around the last bits of snow so they're gone tomorrow. Uncovered my sod tray. Sprayed it and the main lawn areas with Serenade at the 4oz rate. Tomorrow, leaf cleanup.

Finally got to mow today, as the snow was 99% gone on the lawn and it was warm enough to walk on it. It also wasn't quite as soggy as yesterday.

As expected, there were virtually no grass clippings in the bag (just one or two here or there, but you had to look carefully), which means growth is now stopped.

I mostly mulch mowed, but bag mowed on the upper back and side front. Added some of the leaves to a part of the back where they could be mulched in. I did not do the lower side, but there weren't enough leaves to justify it today. I'll hit it when I do my final mow in a few days. I also did not get to the low-input area (did not plan to today). Which brings me to...

There was still major standing water in a few spots, so I went out in boots with a 5-gallon bucket and a snow shovel, and shoveled the water into the bucket and dumped it in the naturalized area. I filled the bucket over 10 times, so it was about 55-60 gallons. It took 15-20 minutes. I wanted to get as much up as possible before it froze tonight, since it's supposed to go down to 12F tonight, and even lower (possibly much lower) tomorrow night.

Covered my sod tray in at least 2 layers of cover material and positioned it near the basement step and against the wall, securing with bricks. I brought in the small pot.

Shut off water faucets, turned them to partly open, and brought in all hoses except 2 short ones in the back.

Finally able to mow some grass and mulch some leaves. Disconnected the hoses.

Caught another mole. They destroyed 30% of my front lawn this year. I mean destroyed. Ugh.

Mulched mowed today with my new mower (Kobalt 80v electric)...50% off original price at Lowes. SO MUCH easier to mulch leaves now!

With 50 degree weather coming, I think it is still to early to drop winterizer.

Mowed lawn, brought lawn furniture and kids toys inside, and dropped winterizer. Smiling last night around midnight as I heard rain help water the urea in.

Yesterday I mowed and bagged for last time of the year. Cleaned off mower, ran out the remaining fuel and rearranged the shed to put mower away and bring snowblower out.

Dropped winterizer before the rain. That’s a wrap on 2018.

Mulched leaves and sprayed CCO. almost 60 degrees here after cold freezing rain all day yesterday. Hopefully, I'll be able to spray CCO again in 2 weeks.

I made a last pass with the mower & tractor today, mostly to imprint a checkerboard for the winter and pick up leaves. There were very few clippings, so putting the urea down about 2 weeks ago worked out well.

Equipment is now in the garage, waiting on the biannual strip-down, repaint, wax, etc, fully clean and service. Then it's time to pull the battery and pack everything in for about 4 months.

Applied last urea on Saturday, then a lot of snow blowing on Sunday. :) Done with lawn things for 2018.

I did leaf cleanup/final mow/winterizing fertilizer Saturday, and then finished leaves Sunday after the 0.55 inch of rain that night. HOC is now down to 2.6 in or so, and I have 3 nights without freezing temps since I last mowed, so crossing my fingers that the cut grass heals up before it gets cold again so it keeps its color better (often, the tips go brown faster if cut right before a freeze, in my experience).

Neighbor's lawn guy came and did a final leaf cleanup/mow next door, and then it started raining.

Low-input area is flooding, and drainage is even poorer than usual right now due to hard, cool soil.

Went out to mulch some leaves and found out that the grass has grown since last week and I'm not sure it is done growing yet. If it hasn't the end is near. Was hoping to drop urea today given that rain is on the way. Last urea drop was early Sept. DId empty the tanks on my gas equipment.

Fixed my utility tractor. Mowed, winterized, applied FAS. May not be perfect timing but it's good timing. A few days of 60 degrees and rain made for a convenient application. Still need to trim and will probably have to mulch leaves up again before Christmas. So much fun listening to Christmas music and mowing.

Mulched a lot of leaves and helped a neighbor out with his leaves. This was yesterday. It was such a nice day to be outside.

Did grandfather's final mow and mulched the leaves. Had to rake the really wet ones in the far back, and still couldn't get every one of them. Ground was soggy back there, as expected. Not fun to put a lawn tractor over that. Took 3 hours. Last mow before this was Oct. 26th. Went down to setting #4 today (around 3 inches), except on the slopes where I stayed at #6 (around 4 inches). The new grass in the front lost most of its color. It hasn't gotten any fertilizer, but I'm thinking it should still survive the Winter...no? I mean average homeowners don't always fertilize new grass immediately. I will have to wait until Spring to do that, now. I would think it was the cold snap and snow a few weeks ago, and possibly the ton of rain we've gotten (like literally 10 inches of liquid precip. the past 6-7 weeks) that caused it.

Today got to over 50, and was the last lawn day for a while. No trace of snow anymore.

Winterized the lawnmower and edger/weed-whacker - clean/wax, run final stabilized fuel until empty, oil in the spark plug hole, etc. Cleaned and put away the cart, spreaders, tools, gas cans, etc.

The tractor is still taking a spot in the garage awaiting it's winterization. It's the only thing left, but takes as long as everything else.

(also changed tires on the car - a big transition-to-winter day)

Was spraying bushes with liquid fence just now, because the deer have been eating them. Neighbor was raking leaves. He said he wanted to winterize his lawn, and asked me if it was too cold already. I got out my thermometer, and it was still high 30s to 40 in his yard, and a degree or so colder in mine. (I also advised him away from the fertilizers with Potassium and coated urea for this purpose, and told him the benefits I'd observed from doing it, and what rate to use.) So, the window is still open here for winterizing. Air temp was 37 or so.

Blew off the last of the leaves for the season. It's too late here for them to break down, so pushed them into the beds (no OM ever leaves the yard!).

Just got back from 10-day vacation. Was happy to see that all mulched leaves on the lawn prior to leaving on vacation were consumed by the herd. Went over the lawn with the mower picking up leaves and placing them in the compost pile. Notices many piles of leaves on the street in the neighborhood waiting to be picked up thinking what a waste of OM.
