Casutherland - 2019 Soil Sample Results
Hey guys! Just got my results back for the new year and excited to get this 2019 season going.
Age of Lawn: 3 1/2 years old
Type of Grass: TTTF
Size of Lawn: 2500 sq ft. Front is about 600, sides are about 500 each, back is about 900 sq ft.
Condition of Soil: No top soil was put down prior to laying sod. When the house was built, the builders stripped and sold all the top soil.
Cutting of lawn: I use a Honda HRX 217 and normally cut at about 3.5-4in.
Fertilization: Normally fertilize with Milorganite(trying Carbon-X this year) about 4-5 times per year, as well as starter fertilizer in the fall. In addition, have started using the N-EXT products as well.
Irrigation: Normally water 2-3 times per week at around 1 hour front, back and sides. Working on making a set up to water without moving the hoses (still in progress).
Here are the links to my last two years of soil samples:

Re: Casutherland - 2019 Soil Sample Results
Just to add onto the notes above...
Last year I dealt with a lot of Fungus and Disease. More than I ever have. We had a hot/wet end of August and September. Nashville also has received around 30-35 inches of rain from October 2018 thru February 2019. I have several areas in my back yard that died from disease last summer and bermuda took them over. I sprayed and killed all the bermuda in my front/back last fall. Most of the areas in the front have completely filled back in from my overseed with fescue, but the backyard still has many patchy bald areas.
In addition to disease, I found that I had a grub problem as well. When I dethatched before seeding this past fall, I was pulled up large chunks of grass that the roots were almost completely gone. This left several more bald or thin areas in the yard.
All in all, last year was one of my worst seasons. I believe that the weather had a major impact on this.

Ummm, that TEC just refuses to stay still, doesn't it...
Look, what you're doing is working - the soil is rounding out nicely. Keep it up! I know you had a tough time with the grubs, but you know how to deal with that. I suspect the disease is from weakened plants (grass) from the grub damage. It's certainly not the soil !!
Do what you did in 2018 again - I expect to see really nice numbers in 2020. Stick with the plan...

Thanks Andy! So you do not see any deficiencies? Is there a grub prevention plan "per say," available?andy10917 wrote: ↑March 6th, 2019, 11:07 pmUmmm, that TEC just refuses to stay still, doesn't it...

There are deficiencies but the same plan that you did last year is closing the deficiencies at a moderate, sustainable pace. Don't fight success - it's far rarer than you think.
For the grub stuff, open a different thread - it isn't addressed as part of a soil remediation plan.

I look forward to this season, and am even thinking about mixing in some KBG next year in my back yard. Big plans!
