No, you didn't screw up. Below a pH of 7, Ferrous Sulfate is fine at 2-3 lbs/K as a granular. Above pH 7, it is applied at lower doses as a foliar to avoid the lock-up that occurs in high pH soils.

You'll have to find something else to keep you from sleeping at night!!
