Bentgrass: phenoxaprop-p-ethyl and/or clear plastic?

Why dose mesotrione currently all the fuss about bentgrass control? You have to spray it three times, and there seems to be mixed results.

First of all, I'm wondering why fenoxaprop-p-ethyl (BioAdvanced Bermuda Killer) is not use?

Also, wondering why clear plastic isn't used? A university's turfgrass page (I forget which one) said that clear plastic is the best way to kill bentgrass.

To be honest, patches of white turf isn't much better than the same being brown turf or plastic tarp when it comes to aesthetics.

What's your experience with using fenoxaprop-p-ethyl to control bentgrass? Or why are you even considering using fenoxaprop-p-ethyl to control bentgrass? As far as I know, products like Acclaim Extra are actually labeled for use on bentgrass turf, not for control of bentgrass. Yes, bentgrass is easily injured by fenoxaprop-p-ethyl, so precautions must be taken in using it, but I don't know if any fenoxaprop-p-ethyl product is actually labeled for use in controlling bentgrass in other cool-season grasses.

Wait, say that again? Are you suggesting that a clear plastic tarp is a better way to kill bentgrass in cool-season turf? For the record, I would prefer not to kill my desirable grass.

Hey, if you know of a better product than mesotrione for controlling bentgrass in cool-season turf, I'm all ears.

Oh, and please put in the effort to dig up that reference. Let's not make a habit of referring to university webpages or studies without actually directing us to the university webpage or study.
