Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Lots of rain the last few weeks. Still mowing and mulching a lot of leaves. Urea is ready. First hard frost came on Oct 19, so I'm waiting for the grass to stop to drop it.

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
I'm pretty frustrated with a Magnolia that refuses to drop leaves. It's getting cold here and I want to mulch these leaves up before snow buries them. I did take down some shrubs yesterday to get ready for curbside shipping by my local municipality next week. More to do tomorrow, it's the warmest day at a predicted 49 high. Winter is coming friends.

About to mulch the last of the leaves; not much. The recent rain/wind stripped most of the trees in the neighborhood. I got about 90% of the leaves from a 50 foot maple mulched into the front 1.5k. Better than last year. On standby with the urea. Temps really gonna drop next week.

It's mop-up day here. Got BLUEHANDMATT and SLYDER27's lawns mopped up yesterday, but ran out of daylight before we got to my lawns.

Temperature's have dropped some here. Low's of 33 overnight, highs in upper 50's. Overseeded (way) late 2 weeks ago so still hoping for growth. Next year likely to be pretty rough for the yard. Germination is coming through nicely though. Hoping for continued higher than average temps. Dropping watering to once daily.

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
In the front yard, my magnolia lost 95% of its leaves with the strong storm last week (very little had come down previously), and the two maples were probably 75% done. I mulch-mowed, with parts of the yard needing three passes to do the job. Those magnolia leaves are tough - even though I spread them out as best I could, I could hear the mower's engine working hard to process that much material.
Confession: it took two hours to spread out the leaves and mulch the front, and I was beat at that point. In the back, I bagged the leaf / grass combo and dumped what I collected in the compost pile and in various beds around the house. I have an oak and linden in the back (both huge) and they'll give me plenty of mulching opportunity over the next month.

Mowed - probably for the last time yesterday and put away the last of my hoses and sprinklers. I will probably drop urea over the weekend.

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Mowed and mulched on Sunday. Some but not much growth over eight days from when I mowed last, it is really slowed down.
Been a very wet year here, and October was no different. This year was already pace to be one of the wettest in recorded history before October. Our air temps this fall have been well below normal for daytime highs, so what is typically the gloriousness of Minnesota fall has missed us two years in-a-row.
Tonight, we are on the northern edge of what could be 2" of snow (up to 4" south of us) with a clipper moving in and that - along with snow cover, if we get it - will keep us from climbing out of the 20s for the next ten days for daytime highs.

Microherd is happy! Mulched a lot of leaves. Just installed the mulching kit on the 48" fab deck and the new CC GSX turned the leaves to dust. Amazing to see...

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
I was gone for 16 days, mowed/hayed on the 3rd and dropped 75 #s of urea before the rain yesterday. Ground temp is at 48 so only mowing left is mulching and getting it down to 3 inches, assuming tomorrow's snow melts. Still got 22 shrubs to trim & cover.

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Stuck a fork in it.
Mulch-mowed, no top growth anywhere since last mowing. Ran the mower out of gas on the last of the leaves and took that as a sign. Put down urea, took the dog to the park, cracked a beer and am waiting for the forecasted rain/snow mix to hit this afternoon. Might have a second beer.
Just an uncommon confluence of goodness, including cold beer in the fridge.

Mowed, trimmed, edged. The tractor I use to mulch finally died I think.

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Was going to drop urea this weekend but 5" of snow friday made that impossible. Maybe gone by tomorrow afternoon but another 6" forecast for monday. Then freezing temps for the next week. This may be the year that winterizer doesn't happen.

Mowed and mulched today. Lots and lots of leaves. Nighttime temps in the 20s with 30s in the daytime, but warming trend this week. Still have growth, so holding back on Urea.

Grass stopped growing. Put 50 lbs of Urea (46-0-0) down on approx 18.5k. 2.7lbs/k (or 1.2lb N/k if my math is right)...a little heavy, but I hope that is ok. Watered it in with sprinkler.

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Winterized the first two lawn areas...the upper back (I just started including most of the garage side in that area as it makes more sense), and the area in the low-input area that tends to flood (which I will be redoing/renovating in the Spring).

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Mulched leaves. Maybe one or two more times and that’ll be it. I’d like to winterize my mowers in a couple weeks but the guy across the street doesn’t do his leaves. Last year I had to mulch mow up until 2 days before Christmas Eve because the wind kept blowing them into my yard until then. He also rarely cuts his lawn so there was an area about 30’x5’ on the other side of his driveway with 18” high sedge seeding...

Continued with leaf mulching/last few mows of the year.
Started spraying FAS to attempt to get back some of the color that had been robbed by the Rust fungus.
