Problems with New Fescue
So have a new sod fescue lawn that was just put down last May. Have a good amount of poa all over the yard and trying to figure out my next step. Don't know if I should try to treat the poa or since there is a lot of bare spots if I should reseed in those areas and add topsoil to fill them in. Also, should I aerate again before spring or since I did it before winter don't need it. I am new to fescue and want to fill in all the bare spots in my yard but not sure the best route to take but also getting rid of all the poa.

What kind of Poa? Poa Annua, Poa Trivialis or another Poa?

And if you recently sodded, why do you have bare spots? And why would they need filling in with topsoil?

Re: Problems with New Fescue
It is poa annua. I bought the house back in May 2019 and they laid the sod then. Around October I aerated and reseeded. I still have bare spots through out the yard. I was thinking about reseeding either in just those bare spots or the entire yard and then adding some topsoil. I know if I reseed then I can't really treat the poa annua and vice versa. Not sure what is the best approach.

It is poa annua. The yard was sodded back in May 2019. I was going to reseed in those bare spots and add some topsoil or do it in the entire yard and even maybe aerate again even though I did it back in October 2019.

Have you tried Tenacity on it?

No, I haven't tried Tenacity on it. Trying to figure out if I should attack the weeds or over seed first then attack the weeds. I know something should have been put down around October last year to prevent all these weeds from coming up.

Re: Problems with New Fescue
Unless you have severe soil compaction, aeration can cause more problems by disturbing the soil than it solves.
Also, I think I see a theme in your posts that needs to be reconsidered. There is no single "weed treatment" that will kill all weeds. You will probably need multiple treatments of multiple herbicides to gain control over a generalized weed problem. Look up and consider the "Triangle Approach to Weed Control" program.
