We did, thank you! It was a standard Pennsylvania Quaker wedding, so about as thrilling as the average DMV visit, but we did finally decide to tie the knot. Alas, I think it missed and went around my neck.

I kid, I kid. We're coming up on our third anniversary in November, seventeen total where we just couldn't be arsed to bother. :-) It was one of those cases where things were so obvious de facto that de jure barely seemed necessary.

Even if I'm a terrible fit, I appreciate it. One scatters resumes like bird seed at a wedding these days, hoping one will miss the bird and sprout. Most enter a bird and...well, end up ending predictably coming out the bird's other end. :-)
Congrats on tying the knot. Nice that de jure is finally available.

We've got our fingers in a lot of pots, so you may be a good fit somewhere in our company.

If I'm lucky, we have a referral bonus (I've never referred somebody for a bonus, but I've never turned one down).

PM is disabled here because of an abuse some time back. But I still get emails from gw (same username). I can also try to find the resume you sent me about 5 years ago. If I can find that, I'll ping you using the email on it.

Is your Verizon. Net address active? That's what you were using back then.

While the number hasn't changed, I still don't use a cell phone.

Am I old-fashioned or what? And I still use a pocket watch and a fountain pen, too.

No matter, while the e-mail addy has changed, it's the same addy...just (removed at members request)

Do people ask "What is that?" and "What are you writing?"

And then you have to explain "It's cursive, dear," to them?

I'm starting to feel like a dinosaur, except without feathers and without even any gray hair.

Well, I guess you didn't get my texts if that was a landline.

I've been on projects where a cell phone is (almost) required because they send some info in email and other in a text. I think they have procedures for people without cell phones, but they're pretty rigid and I never wanted to try.

When I first read that, I just thought pen. Then it clicked. An actual fountain pen. I'm old enough that I've used one but I hated them and haven't used one in probably 50 years. My handwriting is bad enough without the random extra ink. And I haven't written cursive for almost as long. I can barely read what I write in block letters.

I'll send an email to ptd.net

Yep. Telephone. It's not a rotary and doesn't have a cord, but it's not that far off. Seriously, we're both extremely low-tech.

I'm not adverse to technology and actually design and build tiny electronics for fun, but we tend not to adopt any tech that bothers us. Things that ring bother us. Plus with my vision, trying to read a cell phone's screen isn't exactly fun. My monitor is 27".

Yes, an actual fountain pen. For formal correspondence with dear friends and for invitations and the like, I use a glass pen. A dip pen. But since it's glass with no reservoir, you can use infused inks like the gold dust ones. And glass pens are so good you can easily get 30 words per dip with an extra fine tip. Handwriting is a dying art, and I guess it's time. Some of us will keep it going, just like some of us still hand-bind books and can still illuminate a manuscript if we need to. :-)

You should have my email by now (an old personal email and my current work email).

If not, let me know and we'll work through it.

More often I get "Is that a fountain pen?" but only from those old enough to recognize one. The follow-up question is the one I dread: "Can I try it?" If you're a fountain pen user, you know there's risk involved in lending one to a non-user.

I've tried glass dip pens, but I don't have one of my own. I should get one someday. They're great for testing ink samples.

Just use the old saw, "I'm sorry, but it'll wear the tip incorrectly." It's total bull with modern tips, but they don't have to know that. At the very least, you don't have to deal with a split somewhere because somebody treated it like a stiff ball point. :-)

Wait, Morpheus is back!?!? Awesome news! And I just posted a soil test! Could be my lucky day!

(No offense to Andy, but I've always been curious to have Morpheus provide recommendations for our soil -- everybody definitely has their own distinct style.)

In any case, welcome back!

Nyah! See, Andy, I'm popular!. I'm prettier than you are!.

Also, I'm way more verbose.

:-)

Sure, WTH. I'm laid off, I'll take a look at it. (cough) It's not (cough) like I have anything else (sad, weak sniffle) like I have anything else (cough, wipe trickle of blood from the corner of my mouth) like I have anything else I need (cough) to be doing tonight. (cough) I can see if (cough) the dumpsters have food later. (cough) I'm sure the trash pandas can't get all of it.

If you have more time right now, spend some of it cleaning the mirror.

The mirrors are spotless. The couch and the area behind it has been vacuumed.

Oh, wait. Glasses. I forgot to clean those...dayum.
