Dan, sorry but shade growth is the one area that I don't talk about (yet). As for fungal control, a proactive biofiungicide (Serenade et al) is what I swear by - I haven't used a chemical fungicide in a decade.

Despite dry conditions and a good amount of dormancy/browning in most lawns in the area, I'm stuck in "Spring Flush" mode, and two cuts a week is barely enough mowing. I'm irrigating, but this is pretty unusual.

I'll bite, what are you doing to increase shade tolerance?
It's a combo of things that I call HFAT, which I hope to take to final testing with a few members next year. Sorry, but no details being published yet.
What is the HOC in the pic? What HOC do you plan for July?
4" and 4". The "Emblem" cultivar absolutely loves the heat of July - I've never seen anything like it. It doesn't wake up until mid-May, and starts to get sleepy at around October 1st, but it shines in July.
Thanks for the reply. Do you cut lower in early spring and gradually work up to 4"? If yes, about when do you reach 4"?

I cut at 2.5" in early spring and gradually work up to 4" by mid to late June. This year, I received about 0.1" of rain (no irrigation) in the first 3 weeks of June and 10 days of 90-degrees. Next year, I may try to get to 4" by the 1st of June. Thoughts??? Thanks.

Where I live, a late-greening cultivar like "Emblem" can wake as early as April 15th in some years and as late as May 5th in others. So, I don't schedule HOC change dates, but increase HOC about every other week as the Spring Flush permits.

Makes sense...thanks!
