I don't change from my normal--3.5".

However, snow mold generally isn't a risk here as we don't usually get long-term snow cover, snow...I mean, so no worries there. I'll actually mow down to 3" or 3.25" in March to knock off the blasted tips that will freeze in February's coldest weather and reveal the deep green grass underneath that never stopped growing.

I do my last cut at 2.5" - I'm in an area that hits the 55-day tipping point for prolonged snow cover about 50% of the years. Also, the lower height keeps leaves from snagging in the lawn grass better - they blow right through the yard on windy days.

I'm down to 2.5". Like Morph said I really don't have to go that low here in Central Jersey but i have a Honda HRR216 that mulches its best at that height. It pulverizes everything! Thinkin anywhere between 2-3.5 is your choice depending on your particular weather climate.

Last year I went around an inch. It looked fine but it seemed to take longer than usual in the spring to fill in. This year I’m right around 3.75”

Plan is to ‘rake’ with a dethatcher in the spring and mow down to whatever height is even.

My tractor is set to 4, but that is more like 3.5" in real terms.

In the fall I gradually work down from 4" to 2.5". My yard at 2.5" won't mat down under snow and the leaves blow off it.

Got down to 2.5" on 11/20. Grass is not growing much, so I think there may be 1 more mow/leaf-chop for the year.

During the summer I was about as high as my Broadmoor will go, about 3.75". Once mid-September rolled around I lowered that to 3.5" and from there it was down to about 2.75" around Halloween. My last cut was just the other day, 11/21, and that was my winter height at 2.5".
