Re: Leftovers?
I use up the partial bag the next time I apply that product again (which then often results in a new partial bag).
For example, my lawn is 12500 square feet, so with product bags regularly being sized for 5000 square feet, I regularly end up with a half-bag left over, which I then save until the next year.
If I have a remaining product which I don't ever plan to use again on our lawn, either because I switch to a different product, or no longer have the need for that product, I typically either use it on a family member's lawn or apply it as a bonus on our lawn.

Re: Leftovers?
Down it goes on the lawn or in the gardens. This includes, sometimes, dog food the dog didn't like, although it suddenly seems to gain appeal when it's on the ground, so I use that in areas where the dogs don't go. Things left until the next year sit and simply get used the next year. No problem. I had 2 leftover bags of soy and 3 leftover bags of Milo.
For synthetics, care has to be taken, but I really only use 2 synthetics--urea and my winterizer, which is 32-0-3, or pretty close to urea.
Any -cides are discarded appropriately in the original container as the container recommends. Usually that never happens and the empty container is recycled instead.
