Round up for lawns...

I think it has been around for a while but I saw a commercial from round up chemical that they advertise is safe for lawns. What caught my eye is the commercial says (as does the label) that it will kill crabgrass. I have not really heard of anyone on here mentioning it before and it is the only broadleaf type herbicide that says it also kills crabgrass (at least that I know of). Anyone use it or know anything about it?

It uses Quinclorac.

I've heard of it but not real familiar with it. Is it that effective?

Yes. I dredged up an old thread I wrote in 2010, and it discusses using Quinclorac as both a pre-emergent and a post-emergent. While many companies now include Quinclorac, back in 2010 it wasn't a popular ingredient yet. Check this old thread: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1761&p=17694&

I’ve always questioned the wisdom of using the Roundup name for this product.

I’m sure there are more than a few folks who don’t read the label and use the wrong kind of Roundup on their lawns…
