Grub Control ---Pet Safe

Post by Smolenski7 » May 16th, 2013, 1:54 pm

If a person were to water in grub control (say Grub-ex) would it then be safe for dogs to run and play on........and even chew on the grass as some dogs do?

I believe that the bag states that the area is safe for humans and pets once the soil dries after watering it in. I was a bit paranoid until it had been very well watered in (sprinkler and rain), so I took my dog out front to pee and went with her when she went out back to the treated area to poop, which she will only do in the back yard. Once she was finished her business, I wiped her feet down with a wet wash cloth.

When I put down the Bayer 24 Hour Grub Killer last year, I did the same thing. In addition to the wiping down of the paws, I walked the lawn picking up dead and dying grubs because I was afraid that she might eat one or that one of the resident robins might eat one. Likely overkill, but it made me feed better.

while we are on the subject of grubs, is there anything you can put in your vegetable garden to kill/prevent them? I found a few in various shapes and sizes when I was digging.

Andy, don't beat around the bush.

I'm actually not a dog owner, but my sister and brother-in-law are; he want's to put down something, but has skipped the grub control this year because of.......well.......see above.

All it needs is 1/4 inch of water and its safe. The pellets hang around for a while but are benign.
